/spawnplant usage

Hi,

we had a problem on our server. The population of Corn was 0. So we couldn't research the Farmin Skill book.
My idea was to find the areas where corn would grow and plant it with the /spawnplant Corn chat command.
A lot of corn spawned 3 blocks over the soil. So, what is the mechanic of this command? Where does the plant spawn? How can I make sure it spawns where I want it?

Better use the /give command to give you the seeds and plant them manually.

Yeah, true. I found out that the plant spawns one level over the ground. So if I dig a hole and stand in it, I can plant it on the ground. Good to know, but that command could use a fix
