Due to human (non-bot) spam the first contribution of a user has to be reviewed and activated manually, all further contributions do not require this.
As long as a user does not have at least one reviewed and activated contribution, the user is unable to edit his profile, set a avatar, title picture or a signature.

you do not need a server, as singleplayer will start one for you. Playing with a group or on a server is recommended, but you can play the game solo / duo, in that case, depending on your preferences you might want to customize the difficulty settings, though. -
Eco does allow you to overwrite files and play the game.

Most likely though, either your savegame got corrupted and a backup will do or your mods folder got corrupted and removing it and verifying integrity will help.
